The Decorative Arts Museum is devoting an exhibition to the Italian designer Piero Fornasetti from March,11 to June,14, 2015. More than 1000 pieces will be put together to testify to the genius of this artist jack-of-all-decorator as a designer.
Fornasetti's works have been rediscovered only recently by contemporary designers such as Philippe Starck, thanks to the involvement of his son Barnaba Fornasetti, who continues the work of his father.
More than 100 years after his birth, the Museum of Decorative Arts devotes a retrospective exhibition of the works of Piero Fornasetti, wishing to account for all of his art, rich and complex as well, promoting the ornament as a creed. "Self-taught training," Piero Formasetti learned everything from books, focusing on learning drawing and lithography.
The result is a sparkling work: printed textiles, posters, advertising products, logos as fashion accessories, printed in series. You could almost see a father of pop, far from the sleek and simplistic modernism of his time.
His work covers a whole world of references and styles: Roman, Italian Renaissance ancient architecture of Palladio .. Paintings, furniture, screens, chairs, over 1000 objects retrace the career of Piero Fornasetti, who worked at Palace decoration, casinos, but also for advertising.
This exhibition, already presented in 2013 at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, is settling for the first time in France to highlight the iconic art figure who was Fornesati.
