Beyond Stars. The Mystical Landscape from Monet to Kandinsky
Published: 20 January 2017
From 14 March 2017 to 25 June 2017
From March 14th to June 25th, 2017, the Musée d’Orsay gives visitors the opportunity to attend a major exhibition that highlights more than 100 artworks made by some of the most popular landscape painters who were best known for emphasizing mystical experience and spiritual development over traditional religious institutions in their works.
Varying from paintings to works on papers dating back to the late 19th century and the very beginning of the 20th century, most of these works hold names of grand European and Non-European artists such as Paul Gauguin, Edvard Munch, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Vassily Kandinsky, and Georgia O’Keeffe. Among them Van Gogh’s The Starry Night over the Rhone (1888), Monet’s Water Lilies (1907), Gauguin’s Christ in the Garden of Olives (1889), and Jansson's Dawn over Riddarfjarden (1899).
“Beyond Stars. The Mystical Landscape from Monet to Kandinsky” is organized by the Musée d’Orsay in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto. Don’t hesitate to visit it, if you’re one of our guests. The Hotel Cambon is just a few minutes’ walk from the museum.
Have a wonderful stay!
