François I and Dutch Art
Published: 18 December 2017
From 18 October 2017 to 15 January 2018
Until January 15th, 2018, the Musée du Louvre Paris will be hosting “François I and Dutch Art”, an exhibition that draws attention to Dutch Art in France in the period of the reign of King François I.
François I was an ardent fan of Dutch art. He collected many fascinating works from The Netherlands throughout his life including outstanding paintings, sculptures, tapestries, jewel pieces, and many other objects. He was close especially to portrait artists like Jean Clouet, Joos van Cleve, and Corneille de La Haye, who offered him some of the most wonderful pieces of art that today are present among the works displayed.
Around 160 artworks are on view, aiming at reflecting the Fraçois I's fine taste and great passion for art. Just try not to miss this if you are in Paris. You will definitely like it!
