From May 20 to June 29, 2016, Opera Bastille invites you to discover La traviata, one of Giuseppe Verdi’s masterworks that are still part of the standard opera repertoire.
Written in three acts by the Italian librettist Francesco Maria Piave, La traviata is actually based on Alexandre Dumas fils’ renowned novel The Lady of the Camellias (1852).
The date for the first performance of La traviata was on March 6th, 1853, and took place at Teatro La Fenice, in Venice.
La traviata at Opera Bastille will be sung by a selection of the best singers such as Sonya Yoncheva, Maria Agresta, Elisabeth Moussous, Antoinette Dennefeld, Bryan Hymel, Abdellah Lasri, Željko Lučić, Plácido Domingo, and Simone Piazzola. You will enjoy listening to around 3 hours and 5 minutes of the most exquisite music under the conduction of Michele Mariotti. The show will be directed by Benoît Jacquot.
