La Fille de Neige
Published: 31 March 2017
From 15 April 2017 to 03 May 2017
From April 15th until May 03rd, 2017, the Opera de Paris puts on a new operatic show of the Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s La Fille de Neige at the Opera Bastille.
Based on the Russian playwright Alexander Ostrovsky’ play of the same name, La Fille de Neige was actually written by the composer himself. It is made up of four acts and a prologue and focuses on the opposition of eternal forces of nature, involving the interactions of mythological characters, real people, as well as half-mythical and half-real characters.
La Fille de Neige’s world premiere took place at the Mariinsky Theatre, Saint Petersburg on January 29th, 1882, with Eduard Nápravník conducting. It was revised in the version known today in 1898 and regarded at the present day as one of the composer’s most successful works.
Led by the talented conductor Mikhail Tatarnikov and directed by the famous opera director Dmitri Tcherniakov, this new show of La Fille de Neige at the Opera Bastille promises to be a delight for opera lovers, from the opening of the show until the final curtain. So, if you’re staying at our Hotel Cambon and you’d like to get an idea about the best things to do in Paris, this is definitely one of the shows that you should consider thinking about.
Have a nice stay!
