From May 20th to June 12th, 2016, Palais Garnier is pleased to invite you to attend opera Lear by the prominent German composer Aribert Reimann.
Opera Lear is actually based on the famous tragedy Lear by William Shakespear, which was written in 1606. Lear’s world premiere took place on July 9th, 1978 at the National Theatre Munich. It was revived two years after that in Munich and then in the US by the San Francisco opera and reached Paris for the first time in November 1982.
Today, this new show of Lear at Palais Garnier will bring together the Grammy Award-Winning Italian conductor Fabio Luisi and the famous Spanish director Calixto Bieito. It is written in two acts and lasts approximately 3 hours.
