Until July 10th, 2016, the Musée du Luxembourg (The Luxembourg Museum) is home to “Masterpieces of Budapest”, an exhibition that presents a collection of the most stunning masterpieces from the best museums of Budapest, Hungary.
Until July 10th, 2016, the Musée du Luxembourg (The Luxembourg Museum) is home to “Masterpieces of Budapest”, an exhibition that puts on display a collection of the most stunning masterpieces borrowed from the best museums of Budapest, Hungary.
Organised by the Réunion des Musées Nationaux, in collaboration with the Budapest Museum of Fine Art as well as the Hungarian National Gallery, the exhibition “Masterpieces of Budapest” brings together a set of unique works. Most of these pieces were actually collected by the Esterhàzy family between the 17th and 18th centuries and then purchased in the late 19th century by the Hungarian state.
“Masterpieces of Budapest” holds nearly 80 exceptional artworks including paintings, drawings, and rare sculptures made by famous artists including Dürer, Cranach, El Greco, Manet, Goya, Gauguin and Kokoschka, added to ten amazing works that perfectly illustrate the uniqueness of Hungarian art.
