2015 to Sunday 19 July 2015, The Art Deco Museum or "Le Musée des Arts Déco"puts forwards a 3000 buttons collection in an exhibition entitled " Déboutonnez
la mode ", where you can discover fashion clothes and accessories made by
major fashion designers.
This collection made by craftsmen such as lace-makers, embroiderers, jewellers, glassmakers, ceramists is considered as a work of patrimonial interest. By themselves, these different disciplines crystallize the memory and the evolution of skilled craftsmanship.
“Déboutonnez la mode” highlights
the incredible history of buttonssince its apparition in the 13th century.
Paintings, engravings, drawings and fashion photographs stress the importance of its placing on clothing and show how crucial it is in the balance of the silhouette.
It is a quite original and special exhibition, and definitely a must-see if you’re in Paris at these dates.
