Jose Maria Sert
From 08 March 2012 to 05 August 2012
A titan in action
Josep Maria Sert i Badia was a Catalan muralist and friend of Salvador Dalí. He was particularly known for his grisaille style, often rendered in gold and black. The large body of work of this Spanish painter and photographer is now the subject of an exhibition at the Petit Palais.
Although almost forgotten now, Josep Maria Sert was an artist whose brilliant personality and impressive talent garnered him widespread admiration during his lifetime. Until August 5, 2012, the Petit Palais will be opening the doors to his studio, exceptionally reconstructed for this new exhibition.
Nearly one hundred works are displayed: sketches, working photographs, immense panels and models. All of these pieces enable viewers to appreciate the powerful work of a Spanish master of the late 19th — early 20th century art world.
