A Glamorous Photo Exhibit Combines Celebrities and the Seine
From 25 June 2014 to 21 September 2014
An outdoor exhibit between the Musée d'Orsay and the Pont Alexandre III
The glitzy history of Paris is being showcased outdoors on the Seine at the Port de Solferino, between the Musée d'Orsay and the Pont Alexandre III. The free exhibition has been organized by the magazine Paris Match, and it is called 'Les Stars et la Seine' ('The Stars and the Seine'). It comprises 35 iconic photographs that have been selected by the chief photo editor of the magazine, Marc Brincourt.
The photos capture beautiful moments with stars of film, fashion and music from the 1950s to the present. The photographs have been blown up to huge proportions — two meters by two meters — to intensify their impact on the spectator.
Most of the images are in black and white, giving them a vintage glamorous touch. The emphasis is on French celebrities, but visitors will no doubt recognize at least one or two faces. Plus, the artistic merit of the photos is unquestionable, and the exhbit is worth a look solely for that reason. What better way to spend a sunny day then walking along the Seine as you take in these beautifully crafted shots in large format? The exhibit runs from June 25 to September 21, 2014.
