From the Great Mughals to the Maharajas: Jewels from the Al Thani collection

The Toger Eye, The Al Thani Collection

The Tiger Eye Turban Ornament © The Al Thani Collection

From 29 March 2017 to 05 June 2017

Until June 05th, 2017, the Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées will be presenting an exposition that brings to light some of the most wonderful Indian pieces of jewelry and precious stones from the Al Thani Collection and other popular private collections and institutions.

Featuring more than 270 fascinating pieces including the Wine Cup of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, the Aigrette, and The Idol's Eye—the world’s largest cut blue diamond— this exhibition is truly a special, if not a once-in-a-lifetime, opportunity to see these spectacular masterpieces displayed all together in the same place. It, also, offers visitors the chance to discover the evolution and development of gem-setting in the Indian subcontinent from the time of the great Mughals up until the time of the Maharajas.

Our Hotel Cambon is situated in close proximity to the Grand Palais. So, if you’re one of our guests, consider visiting “From the Great Mughals to the Maharajas: Jewels from the Al Thani collection”. It will leave you astounded!

Organized by the RMN – Grand Palais with the collaboration of the Musée National des Arts Asiatiques (Guimet/MNAAG)
