The Wall - Antoine de Galbert Collection
From 14 June 2014 to 21 September 2014
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Maison Rouge is displaying the collection of its founder, Antoine de Galbert.
For ten years, since its creation in 2004, the Maison Rouge housed exhibitions of various collectors which ranged from photography, paintings and drawings, comic strips, visual arts…
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Maison Rouge is an opportunity to finally show an ample collection of the founder and president of this contemporary art foundation , Antoine de Galbert, that has been little unveiled till now.
Antoine de Galbert's exhibition contains a selection of his more than a million paintings, drawings, photographs, and small sculptures - anything that can be hung on a wall.
But unlike previous projects around private collections, the hanging of art works imagined by Antoine de Galbert is remarkably specific. Their placement in the exhibition was realized at random by a piece of software, working from the piece's size and catalog number, resulting in a group tableau that holds the record for exposing 900 works and 500 artists.
Throughout the exhibition, various artists, art historians, curators will be invited and asked for their views and to present their journey through the works of the Wall during guided tours.
