Vagrant investigations

Vagrant Investigations, Emile Guimet, Exhibition at Guimet Museum

From 06 December 2017 to 12 March 2018

It all started in 1876 when Emile Guimet was commissioned by the minister of public instruction to travel to Asia with Félix Régamey and build an extensive and diverse collection of Asian artifacts that mainly includes pieces in connexion with the religions of the Far East.

Three years after starting the trip, the Musée national des arts asiatiques [MNAAG] was founded.

So often referred to as Musée Guimet, today, the museum is widely popular for being home to one of the largest collections of Asian art outside Asia.

“Vagrant Investigations”, the exhibition held at Musée Guimet Paris, invites you to view some of the most interesting pieces that Guimet brought to France from Asia. It also offers an opportunity to discover many facts about the trip which was a cornerstone of the foundation of this outstanding museum.

Sculptures, paintings, porcelain pieces, drawings, photographs and epistolary exchanges are among the exhibits that are on display.

Musée Guimet is within a 30-minute walking distance from Hotel Cambon. It is located near the Jardins du Trocadéro as well as some of the best spots in the city. Do not be hesitant and consider visiting it if you're staying at our hotel any time between now and March 12th.

Whether you are a fan of Asian art and culture or not, you will for sure be impressed by the magnificent collection the museum holds.

We wish you a nice stay at our Hotel Cambon!
