The Musée Galliera Reopens with Fashion Icon Alaïa
From 28 September 2013 to 26 January 2014
Haute couture on display at this fashion museum
The Musée Galliera, a museum dedicated to fashion, welcomes the high fashion couturier Azzedine Alaïa for a never-before-seen exhibition. This special event marks the reopening of the Musée Galliera, which had been closed for renovation for more than four years.
Fashion fans have been waiting with bated breath for this museum to once again open its doors to the public, and they will not be disappointed. For this inaugural exhibition, 70 of Alaïa's most iconic creations will be shown off. Although the name Azzedine Alaïa may not be very familiar to most, the designer has created dresses for many of the world's elite, including Naomi Campbell, Sofia Coppola and Michelle Obama.
Alaïa's specialty is crafting pieces that perfectly suit the forms of the wearer's body. This results in dresses that are breathtakingly shapely from all angles — front, back and side. Azzedine Alaïa's talent is unmistakable, and he has been recognized all over the globe, despite his desire for a quiet life.
Now, visitors to Paris can see his dramatic gowns for themselves and discover one of the masters of haute couture.
